Abstract

[EN] The communication shows the methodology and results of the research project funded within the call for new lines of multidisciplinary research of “Programa de Apoyo a la investigación y desarrollo de la U.P.V. (PAIDH05H12), Reference: AP20120570. Principal investigator: Elías M. Pérez García Throughout the entire history of art, science and technology have formed part of the same innovative force and wealth of their interaction has contributed to integral human progress. The importance of mathematics in artistic creation can be traced from the origin of art itself. At present there is a wide field of research in art and mathematics, both sculpture by mathematicians, such as plastic work with mathematical references made by artists. Despite its high interest, often lack mathematical sculpture aesthetic innovation enough to be referred to in the art circuits, while the plastic work done by artists, is usually confined to certain types and sometimes lacks rigorous mathematical basis. The overall objective of the project is to explore the vast and fertile territory between art and mathematics. It is not so much to make specific and recognizable art and math projects, such as using as uninhibited interaction interdisciplinary laboratory of ideas, brainstorming topics, theories and terminologies, respecting the interests of the different practices and poetics of the participants. In any case, in this project, we plan to overcome this dual role as a recognizable artistic practice as a scientific techno or sculpture that formalizes mathematical problems or formulas. Committed to an inclusive formula of interaction with a group of artists with common paths or interests and a group of mathematicians working in engineering or architecture. The results are shown in an exhibition to be held in July in the exhibition hall of the School of Architecture of the UPV, a publication will also be held. [ES] La comunicación muestra la metodología y resultados obtenidos en el proyecto de investigación financiado, dentro de la convocatoria de nuevas líneas de investigación multidisciplinares del Programa de Apoyo a la investigación y desarrollo de la U.P.V. (PAID-05-12), Referencia: AP20120570. Investigador principal: Elías M. Pérez García. A lo largo de toda la historia arte, ciencia y tecnología han formado parte de un mismo ímpetu innovador y la riqueza de su interacción ha contribuido al progreso humano integral. La importancia de las matemáticas en la creación artística se puede rastrear desde el origen mismo del arte. En este momento existe un amplio campo de investigación en arte y matemáticas, tanto escultura hecha por matemáticos como obra plástica con referentes matemáticos hecha por artistas. A pesar de su alto interés, la escultura matemática suele carecer de la innovación estética suficiente como para ser contemplada en los circuitos artísticos, mientras la obra plástica hecha por artistas, se suele circunscribir a determinadas tipologías y a veces carece de fundamento matemático riguroso. El objetivo general del proyecto es explorar el amplio y fértil territorio entre el arte y las matemáticas. Se trata, no tanto de realizar proyectos específicos y reconocibles de arte y matemáticas, como utilizar la interacción interdisciplinar como laboratorio desinhibido de ideas, poniendo en común temas, teorías y terminologías, respetando los intereses de las diferentes prácticas y poéticas de los participantes. Los resultados se mostrarán en una exposición que se celebrará en julio, en la sala de exposiciones de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la UPV, se realizará también una publicación.
