Architettura e potere nell Ordine di San Giovannidi GerusalemmeFrancisco Mamani Fuentes - pág. 120Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Condiciones para la construcción de las bóvedas tabicadas barrocas en la iglesia románica de san Andrés en Segovia(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-30) Ruiz Hernando, José Antonio[EN] In the 17th and 18th centuries in Spain, the old wooden roofs that covered some naves of Mudejar, Romanesque, or Gothic churches were hidden by the construction of new tile vaults, either because these were in poor condition or to adapt them to the prevailing classical-baroque fashion. These vaults were built without centerings, quickly and economically, and then plastered forming rich geometric decorations. The thickness of the vaults was usually two brick layers, about ten centimeters. In the case of the church of San Andrés, the contract and the conditions of the church reforms and construction of the vaults have been preserved. They are an important document for the History of Construction in Spain. For this reason, they have been transcribed in this article. A historical introduction precedes the transcription of the conditions.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , La Torre de Aguada del Alcázar de Segovia: apuntes para una cronología de su construcción y destrucción parcial(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-30) Sanjurjo Álvarez, Alberto; Martínez-Falero del Pozo, Ubaldo; Pastor Altaba, María del Pilar[EN] This article describes and analyses the so-called Cubo de Aguada of the Alcázar of Segovia, located in the bed of the Eresma River, at the foot of the prow of the fortress, inside which there is a little-known open-well stone spiral staircase. A chronology of its construction process and its subsequent partial destruction is proposed, in the light of data obtained from archives, drawings and historical photographs and a detailed study of the construction itself.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , El abastecimiento de cal y yeso en la ciudad de Valencia: breve revisión histórica sobre su producción y mercado entre los siglos XIV y XIX(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-30) La Spina, Vincenzina[EN] Lime and plaster were two fundamental materials used in the historical construction of Valencia. For centuries, buildings and different written documents have reflected their use. This article aims to provide a brief historical review of their supply, from the 14th to the 19th century, considering everything from their extraction to their sale, including their production and trade. Information about the principal deposits, manufacturing process and the regulation of its urban market has been obtained from bibliographic and archival sources. Furthermore, it discovered that, despite the abundance of natural resources, there were periods in which lime was scarce and, in others, plaster was not economical.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Desarrollo y problemática en la decenda de cava del manuscrito «secretos de arquitectura»(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-30) Rojo Ferrer, Juan[EN] Secrets of Architecture is a manuscript treatise on stonework of advanced chronology (mid-18th century), located in Xàtiva. The manuscript, for its part, is related to previous sources: the Treatise on Architecture by Vicente Tosca, Arte y uso de architectura, by Laurencio de San Nicolás and, above all, Le Secret d Architecture by Mathurin Jousse. It can be said that the Xàtiva s manuscript is based mainly on French work, but some parts come from other authors, and the own contribution is not negligible either. This complexity reveals a context of great richness halfway between the Hispanic tradition and the Enlightenment mentality. The article, for its part, focuses attention on a specific architectural type, called decenda de cava (or descendente de caba), in order to be able to observe different aspects in detail: the relationships between sources, the scientific consistency of the cases presented, and the practical-theoretical meaning of the proposals.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Centro Administrativo Gubernamental de la provincia de Santa Fe, un acercamiento a la arquitectura moderna en Argentina a finales de la década de 1960(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-30) Parera, Cecilia; Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina[EN] The Government Administrative Center of the Province of Santa Fe, designed in 1967, is an eloquent example of modern architecture in Argentina, which found in government a regular client. The article analyzes the ideas that guided this proposal, both urban, spatial, material and symbolic, understanding them as a result of the local productive context, the prevailing disciplinary debate, as well as the singular expression of its authors. Along these lines, the transformations carried out in the building during the years since its inauguration are reviewed, identifying various conditions that allow us to understand them, such as changes in state policies and current regulations, demands for greater work surface, and the absence of guidelines to guide interventions. With this knowledge, we seek to contribute to the valorization of a public building produced in a period until noew rarely visited by historiography due to its link with the militar dictatorship.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , El análisis gráfico de equilibrio de arcos, bóvedas y edificios. Un esquema de su desarrollo histórico(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2024-12-30) Huerta Fernández, Santiago[EN] The graphical analysis of equilibrium goes back to the beginnings of the theory of arches. In retrospect, it seems obvious, since one only has to use the law of composition of forces, discovered by Stevin at the end of the 17th century. However, it took two and a half centuries before, in the middle of the 19th century, the combination of the line of thrust concept with graphical tools enabled architects and engineers to analyse first arches, then domes, spatial vaults, and complex buildings. These graphical methods were then considered approximate or incorrect because of the concentration on elastic analysis. Professor Heyman demonstrated in the 1960s that the use of equilibrium methods, with a material strength condition (masonry must work in compression), leads to safe solutions. Today, equilibrium analysis is modern and classical elastic theory is old , even if it is formalised with complicated computer programs. The story is interesting in itself, but perhaps it also sheds light on the resistance that exists today against the use of these equilibrium methods.
