Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Experiencia Praktikum Ingeniería Industrial 2010: Proyecto sobre control de un tubo levitador(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Hueso Navarro, M. Carmen; Sanchís Saez, Javier; Departamento de Ingeniería de Sistemas y Automática; Instituto Universitario de Automática e Informática Industrial; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Industrial[EN] This communication aims to show the development of a Project on Automatic Control inside the program “Praktikum 2010- Ingeniería Industrial”, in the engineering department of Systems and Automation (DISA) of the Technical School of Industrial Engineers (ETSII), at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). The project is directed to 11th grade students and consists of the implementation of a closed loop control system to maintain a levitating piece inside a tube in a given reference position.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Experiencia Praktikum con máquinas eléctricas y control automático(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) González Curiel, Rafael[EN] The Praktikum project is an innovative experience carried out at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) with 17-years-old students that have taken a course of Technology in the High School period. Students are chosen from all the Valencia region attending to their marks in their first year of High School. This note explains the activities carried out in the frame of this program in the Electrical Engineering Department at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales of the UPV. During a week, a student was guided by the university professors of this department in the fields of maintenance and calculation of electrical machines and domestic electrical installations. The automated control of them was also introduced to the student.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Actividades matemáticas que incitan a la modelización(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Falcó, Javier[EN] This proposal uses advanced mathematical concepts adapted to high school education, using intuitive and inspiring activities. Mathematics is presented as a consequence of logical reasoning, promoting learning through experimentation and focusing on modelling through physical experience and manipulation of objects. During the development work three mathematical workshops are proposed (Annexes I, II and III) who try to change the preconception that the students have about mathematics as difficult and inaccessible. For the workshops will be used top-level mathematical concepts such as: graph theory, game theory, knot theory, the proof by induction, the reduction to absurdity...Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Una aplicación didáctica de la modelización matemática: control de velocidad de vehículos en vías rurales(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Juan, M.A.; Sánchez-Pérez, E.A.[EN] In this paper a didactic model for the control of the speed of the vehicles in a road is presented. Based on empirical assumptions, the model provides an answer to the problem of finding the best road from the point of view of the time that is needed for going from the top of a hill to a certain point in the valley under the assumption that certain restrictions for the speed are imposed. Thus, we construct a simple model for representing the time dependence of the traffic in a road as an exercise of mathematical modelling adequate for a basic level of a civil engineering career.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Modelo de selección de cartera con Solver(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Fogués Zornoza, P.; Jiménez Fernández, E.[EN] In this paper, we present an example of linear optimization in the context of degrees in Economics or Business Administration and Management. We show techniques that enable students to go deep and investigate in real problems that have been modelled using the Excel platform. The model shown here has been developed by a student and it consists in minimizing the absolute deviations over the average expected return of a portfolio of securities, using the solver tool that it is included in this software.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Cálculo del área de un polígono simple(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Arteaga, Francisco[EN] In the present paper we consider to determine the relative position between a point and a simple polygon in a plane. For this purpose we build a model of the polygon, which manipulation carries us, in a very natural way, to the solution of this problem and it allows us to arise a more ambitious problem based on the same model: the determination of the polygon area. This geometric example is useful to illustrate the creation process in Mathematics. It is especially interesting the way in which the formalization of a simple problem with a successful notation and a great dose of algebraic exploration results in a rediscovery of an interesting geometric result which is much more important than the original objective.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , De paseo con los Bourbaki(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Escudero, Miquel[EN] The Bourbaki group was founded seventy-seven years ago. In this paper there are carried out some thougts about its impact and significance. It can be useful to students, in special those of mathematics, who perhaps they do not even know about. It's worthwhile to know that the empty-set symbol was created by this group. Bourbaki's method is controversial due to its mathematic reinterpretation, but its strong repercussion cannot be ignored. No important mathematic in the second half of the 20th century could have avoided to being influenced. Their beginnings were extraordinarily peculiar. Nevertheless those youthful mathematicians were very gifted and they had a powerful will to take over the mathematical rigour.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Cálculo de cubicaciones mediante aproximación funcional e integración: Un caso práctico para alumnos de ingeniería(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-04-05) Cisneros, Francisco Javier; Morillas, Samuel; Camarena, Joan Gerard; Departamento de Matemática Aplicada; Instituto Universitario de Matemática Pura y Aplicada; Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería Informática[EN] In this work we introduce a practical case application of approximations of function and definite integral to approach a problem in civil and building engineering. The objective is to approximate the volume involved in a terrain movement from a set of points of the original and desired piece of land. The proposed case can be used as a practical case for engineering students in order to motivate the learning of the employed mathematical tools. We compare the results of our approach with the classical one to assess its advantages.
