    [ES] Le Corbusier mostró a lo largo de toda su trayectoria una profunda preocupación por definir un nuevo tipo de arquitecto que se adecuara a las nuevas exigencias de la era de la máquina. Frente a una situación que consideraba claramente insatisfactoria, en la que perduraba la dualidad ingeniero-arquitecto tanto en la práctica profesional como en la enseñanza, Le Corbusier fue poco a poco definiendo una nueva figura, la del constructor, en la que habría de lograrse una síntesis moderna entre arte y ciencia. Este trabajo estudia las sucesivas etapas de formación de este mito del constructor en el pensamiento de Le Corbusier.

    Le Corbusier et Bernard Zehrfuss : genèse d'un dialogue et relecture du siège de l'UNESCO (1939 1957)

    [EN] This article revisits the design history of the UNESCO Headquarters through a still insufficiently stabilized object of inquiry: the long-term relationship between Le Corbusier and Bernard Zehrfuss. Based on a cross-reading of primary sources, including several previously unpublished items (notes, correspondence, and documents related to the negotiations), the study reconstructs the genesis of a dialogue that was both productive and conflictual before the commission, and then traces some of its effects at the heart of the UNESCO project. It sheds light on the way modernity took shape within a regime of public commissioning dominated by procedures, arbitration, and collective work, where the effective operability of architectural ambitions became increasingly central. It also shows how the legitimacy of the "Prix de Rome" could function as a form of mediation particularly through the action of Eugène Claudius-Petit. The UNESCO episode thus appears as a testing ground in which authorial authority is reconfigured into requirements to be made operative (spaces of relation, thresholds, envelope, light), while misunderstandings surrounding transmission continue to weigh on the conduct of the project.

    Frugality as a design tool in the work of Le Corbusier

    [FR] Cet article interroge la notion de frugalité architecturale à travers l' uvre de Le Corbusier, loin de constituer une simple réponse conjoncturelle comme cela est pratiqué aujourd'hui face à la crise écologique, c'est une matrice intellectuelle et existentielle forgée dès sa jeunesse Chaux-de-Fonnière. La frugalité corbuséenne, loin de se confondre avec l'ascétisme ou la privation, vise une qualité spatiale maximale à partir d'un minimum de moyens, articulant rationalisation constructive, ambition sociale et recherche d'une « joie essentielle ». Relire cette frugalité aujourd'hui invite à dépasser les seules performances énergétiques pour retrouver une réflexion plus large sur la mesure, la proportion et les conditions d'un habiter véritablement humaniste, mais aussi témoigner qu'il est possible de repenser des solutions durables et inclusives d'un urbanisme et d'une architecture apte à répondre aux injonctions du réchauffement climatique.
