[EN] Language learning requires an interaction between the students and the teacher in the classroom that allows for the actual practice of the communicative aspects of the language. Given the small number of language courses and credits offered in the degrees’ programs and the UPV requirements of a B2 level of language competence for the award of Bachelor’s degrees, the introduction of flipteaching in the English courses helps to significantly optimize teaching resources and to better use the time available in the classroom (Bergmann, Obermyer y Willie 2011, Stone 2012). In this paper we present a proposal for the implementation of flip-teaching in the course of English for Business Management (IGE)-B1 level, as an alternative to conventional teaching and learning methodologies. This approach allows students to review the theoretical aspects at home, through easily available technological media, such as PoliformaT or the internet, and therefore optimize the face-to-face classroom time, so necessary in teaching languages. With this experience we expect to foster the students’ motivation as they will have the opportunity of developing real communicative skills and strategies, thus improving their performance and language competence. In this way students will be better prepared to meet the UPV language reqirements for graduating and eventually improving their opportunities in the international labor market.

[EN] Bachelor degrees in Architecture and Building Engineering develop several learning skills outcomes which are acquired in different subjects. These subjects rarely find a framework in which sharing the acquired knowledge and, therefore, to understand or experience the skills and competences as a whole. In this workshop foldable singular surfaces are created, this competence is acquired after completing Descriptive Geometry, Structures I and Architectural Projects courses. At the workshop a unique foldable surface is explained, this can be created using tensioned and rigid elements. Students should understand the figure geometrically and solve it spatially using basic and recycled materials (broomsticks, screws and strings) and adjusting tensioned elements to eventually cover a 4x4m area. The workshop development is divided into two different phases, in the first one different base modules are created (in groups of 3-4 people) once finished its folding operation is shown in the classroom. In the second phase the different modules connection is studied and different types of links between modules are checked. After the workshop a survey was carried out in order to assess the whole experience from the theoretical content, the materials, the spaces and the involved competences.

[EN] The School of Design Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia has begun to teach this course 2014-2015 the new Master in Aeronautical Engineering. In the first year the compulsory subject 'Orbital and Atmospheric Flight Mechanics. Guidance Laws' appears with 4.5 ECTS (Theory 2.25, Practice 1.25 and Problems with computer 1.00). Developing the curriculum of this course has been the first step in the work of the teachers involved, who have divided the competences of the subject in two blocks. On the one hand the competences of ‘Orbital and Atmospheric Flight Mechanics’ and on the other those of ‘Guidance Laws’. It has also sought to promote a type of learning based on problems connected with reality as well as allowing students to visualize the elements that they are studying. Each weekly session consists of an introduction of concepts in theoretical session, a problem-solving task to strengthen and expand knowledge and finally a visualization practice by performing 2D and 3D simulations by means of STK software. In this article we describe the process followed in developing the curriculum of the first block (MVOyA) showing also some examples of the material used, the results obtained and the students’ opinion.

[EN] Decision making is ubiquitous in human affairs. Every day we make personal decisions; managers, entrepreneurs, executives, leaders, etc., base their work on a proper decision making. Often, some of the process elements are intangible, i.e. not objectively quantifiable. This project introduces students to the technique of multi-attribute decision making called AHP, whose foundation is rooted in matrix algebra. Through a suitable simulation scenario, each team of students must complete a decision-making process in the presence of intangibles. Concurrently, the algebraic fundamentals that make valid and consistent the process are clarified. This is a multidisciplinary project, which, incidentally, allows the evaluation of several transverse UPV-competencies. This project has been designed for the subject Mathematics II of the new double degree in Business Administration and Management + Engineering of Technology and Telecommunication Services that is offered for the first time in the UPV in the course 2014-2015. Notably, the project is related to five thematic units of this subject, so it is clearly transverse to the subject

[EN] The peer review is part of the collaborative learning in which students assess the work presented for other students. In this work, we present two types of evaluation related to effective communication: individual qualitative evaluation of oral presentation of problems, and collective quantitative evaluation of written documents presented by other teams. They have guidelines on how to conduct the assessment. The obtained results have been compared with the evaluation performed by the teachers. In regard to qualitative evaluation, the order of results of oral presentations, performed by teachers and peer review, is the same. In the quantitative evaluation of written documents the differences among teachers and peer review are reasonable. In addition, the evaluation reasoning indicates that students have performed a rigorous work as peer reviewers which should contribute to its learning process.

[EN] This paper describes several applets based on Easy Java Simulations. These applets are available as “learning objects” in the UPV RiuNet database. They are freely available so they can be used for any subject of physics from the UPV or any other institution. Through these learning objects, students can perform several lab sessions in the subject of Physics, or can perform simulations for displaying different physical phenomena. A special feature to note is that the applets are designed so that students can make measurements on the screen, similar to how they would in the physics laboratory of the subject. This allows to set out several lab sessions and tasks of the subject via the Internet thanks to these learning objects
