Análisis narrativo de seis adaptaciones cinematográficas basadas en tres obras de William Shakespeare

Abstract

William Shakespeare nunca conoció el séptimo arte. Es por eso por lo que resulta fascinante estudiar la huella que ha legado al mundo del cine. Para ello se ha seleccionado una obra de cada uno de los géneros en los que suele dividirse su trabajo (comedias, tragedias y dramas históricos), y dos películas que han adaptado cada obra. A través de este Trabajo de Fin de Grado, se analizará cómo una serie de directores y guionistas reconocidos, han adaptado la narrativa de tres de los más grandes clásicos de William Shakespeare. Con ello se tendrá la información suficiente como para establecer una comparativa tanto entre cada una de las películas seleccionadas y el original de Shakespeare, como entre las adaptaciones entre sí. Se considerarán los criterios teóricos que nos propone la narrativa, centrados en los fundamentos de la adaptación literaria al cine. Así mismo se tendrá en cuenta cómo el resto de los elementos cinematográficos, como la música, la fotografía y la escenografía, entre otros, se prestan al servicio de la obra original para su adaptación.

William Shakespeare never knew the seventh art. That is the reason why it is fascinating to study the footprint that he has left to the world of cinema. Keeping this in mind, a work has been selected from each of the three genres in which his work is usually divided (comedies, tragedies and historical dramas), and two films that have been adapted from each of them. Through this Final Degree Project, I will analyse how a series of renowned directors and screenwriters have adapted the narrative of three of William Shakespeare's greatest classics. With this, I have enough information to establish a comparison between each of the selected films and the original Shakespeare play, and among adaptations to each of them. The theoretical view proposed by the narrative will be considered, focusing on the foundations of literary adaptation to the cinema. I will also talk about how the rest of the cinematographic elements, such as music, photography and set design, among others, lend themselves to the service of the original work for its adaptation.
