Ex-Hulming The Past : trabajos de la memoria. Archivo y producción audiovisual como metodología de investigación

Abstract

[ES] La investigación y obra ExHulming the Past, está enfocada en la creación de nuevas narrativas sobre el barrio Hulme1 ubicado en Manchester durante el periodo de 1972 y 1996. Usando la memoria como materia prima, el producto final articula diferentes tipos de archivos y material visual haciéndolos dialogar entre ellos, utilizando diversos elementos para representar un pasado común en un escenario plurivocal. La instalación como producto de la investigación, busca ser un catalizador de relatos y memoria en un espacio abierto para el diálogo y momentos de identificación con el público. Se trata de una instalación de videos y material gráfico cuyo ensamblaje deja ver cómo la memoria encuentra sus grietas, su naturaleza fragmentaria y se conecta con la ficción. Aquí los diálogos que ocurren entre el pasado y la memoria retan los imaginarios establecidos y homogenizantes de aquel lugar.

[EN] The research and installation ExHulming the Pastis focused in the creation of new narratives about Hulme, located in Manchester between the period of 1972 and 1996. Using memory as a raw material the final product articulates several types of archive and visual supports through making them speak to each other by using various elements to depict a common past in a plurivocal scenario. The installation as a research outcome, seeks to be a catalyst for memories and storytellings, an open space for dialogue leading to moments of identification with the public. The corpus is a video installation and a graphic piece whose assembly allows to see how memory finds out its cracks, its fragmented nature and connects with fiction. Here the various dialogues that occur between the past and memory challenge the stablished and homogenizer imaginaries from that place.
