[ES] La crisis climática y, en concreto, el calentamiento global, es un fenómeno en constante agravamiento que ha sido confirmado por numerosas investigaciones científicas y minuciosamente estudiado a nivel internacional. Se debe en mayor parte al efecto invernadero producido por algunos gases de los cuales muchos son de origen antropogénico. Hoy en día, urge, en todos los sectores, realizar balances de carbono que permiten darse cuenta de los puntos críticos y de las mejoras que se pueden realizar para limitar las emisiones de gases a efecto invernadero. En este estudio se tratará de calcular el balance de carbono de la bodega Dominio de la Vega, situada en la aldea San Antonio de Requena, Valencia, España. Se realizará a través del Protocolo de la OIV, tomando en cuenta también otras normas internacionales. Se buscarán alternativas en los procesos productivos que más emiten para poder conseguir una actividad cada vez más sostenible.

[EN] The society environmental concern is increasing quickly. New generations want sustainable and
ecological products, and market niches are getting closed for conventional products. Global warming,
caused in a significant part by human activities, is the result of rising greenhouse gas emissions and is
becoming a huge matter in modern countries. Kyoto Protocol established rules to urge signatory
countries to reduce their GHG emissions. Since then, different countries as Spain began to calculate
their activities carbon footprint in order to evaluate global emissions in a more precise way. Wine
world must follow this way, both to protect the environment and to be able to commercialize easily
the products. Indeed, take care of the winery’s environment is absolutely necessary to ensure the
activity continuance, for the next generations. Besides, wine being a quality product, the footprint
information on the label can only contribute to add prestige and ease the commercialization.

Dominio de la Vega winery, in Utiel-Requena Appellation of origin, had always, for more than 40
decades, trying to be pioneer in sustainable ways of production and decided to calculate carbon
footprint in the direction of implementing a GHG emissions reduction strategy. This study will explain
