Historical Study and Constructive Analysis of the Church of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin in Pokcha (Cherdyn District. Perm Region. Russia)

Abstract

[ES] La Iglesia de la Anunciación de la Santísima Virgen, en su gloria fue la característica arquitectónica prominente y principal atracción con su singularidad del pueblo de Pokcha, en Rusia. Aunque la iglesia fue reconocida como en ruina, su valor cultural e histórico es esencial. La iglesia forma parte del proyecto europeo PROMETHEUS “Horizon 2020 PROtocols for information Models librariEs Tested on HEritage of Upper Kama Sites”, cuyo objetivo es documentar y estructurar la información sobre los complejos religiosos monumentales del Upper Kama. El presente trabajo pretende realizar un estudio histórico del monumento y de su entorno, con el objetivo de desarrollar un análisis constructivo y patológico en profundidad. Asimismo, se llevará a cabo un estudio planimétrico que permita comprender los diferentes cuerpos y elementos arquitectónicos que componen el edificio, su forma de trabajo y su influencia en el proceso de degradación del mismo. Del mismo modo, en base a las lesiones y procesos patológicos hallados en el edificio se plantean algunas propuestas que contribuyan a mejorar su estado de conservación.

[EN] The Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at its glory was the prominent architectural feature and main attraction with its uniqueness in the Pokcha village, in Russia. Although the church was recognised as ruins, its essential cultural- historical value is still present. The church is part of the European Project PROMETHEUS “Horizon 2020 PROtocols for information Models librariEs Tested on HEritage of Upper Kama Sites”, with the objective to document and structure the information about monumental religious complexes of the Upper Kama. This thesis intends to carry out a historical study of the monument and its surroundings, with the aim of developing an in-depth constructive and pathological analysis. Likewise, a planimetric study will be carried out to understand the different architectural bodies and elements that compose the building, their way of working and their influence on the degradation process. In addition, based on the injuries and pathological processes found in the building, some intervention proposals will be put forward to contribute to improving its conservation state.
