Conception of a transmission and reception subsystem for a 1Mbps packet radio link

Abstract

The goal of this study is to develop a packet radio transceiver in the 6 cm frequency band for a future commercial model. First, an experimental module will be implemented, and afterward tested in a connection between Ulm und Biberach cities, which are 42 kilometers distant. An initial conception of the whole system was carried out by Anouk Cardouat and Bernhard Ruf [1]. From this starting point, the whole job has been divided and assigned to several students. One of them implemented a splitter to feed the antenna which will provide bidirectionality to the system, whereas some groups have been assigned to the modulation and demodulation unit. Thomas Moussy has designed the PLL electronic component with the main oscillator [2]. In this research, the hardware communications elements will be studied and implemented. In detail, the manufactured devices should be analyzed, to ascertain the levels are handled in the circuit and later fix the electronic components to be used. As a main task, the transmitter module will be designed and built.
